Not great for pet hair

| I purchased this vacuum a week ago and first had problems with the instructions that did not tell you how to correctly put the handle, etc. on. Plus, they shorted me one screw! Anyway, I was not impressed with the vacuum after having played with all of the height settings. I have two cats and I had to go over the same spots several times to get the hair up (it just rolled the hair into balls on the carpet) Also, it did not pick up larger pieces of dirt very well. I had to return it to the store. I'm now in search of a good vacuum! |
Not worth the bother...

Like other reviewers, I chose this vacuum because I really wanted a Dyson and couldn't afford it. This seemed to have the same types of features I was looking for, but without being so overpriced. It worked well on my carpet in the beginning, looked sharp, was pretty well contained, flush with accessories, and had a nice long cord. Then it sucked up a string, and the rest was history.
This vacuum is constantly getting clogged by just about everything.
Sometimes it sucks up things that I don't intend for it to be near, which goes to show it has great suction when it's working properly, but I have had to put my fingers, elbows, spaghetti fork, wooden spoons, and just about any small handled object I can find into getting the spinning cyclones unclogged. The filter is a pain to clean and has to be dry before it can be put back together. Then, the plastic accessory holders started breaking, so now I have a crappy vacuum, with jagged pieces hanging off it, that won't suck, sitting in my living room. I wish I could replace it right now, but I think I'll keep saving up and just get the Dyson...I expect to get more than 2 years out of a $200 vacuum. |

I bought this because I was trying to stay away from 'work one year eurekas.' In that aspect it was a success. It lasted for two. It is heavy, too heavy to do stairs with, and looks substantial but a Dyson it is NOT! It couldnt live up to the challenge of pet hair and was cumbersome to maneuver. It finally died after two years, and my DH is one that takes them apart and rescusitates them for a bit longer. Not bad since eurekas tend to die after a year.
We finally did get that dyson and boy did we see the difference. Amazing for heavy duty spring cleaning. For the downstairs every day use, I HIGHLY recommend a Bissell Helix I think is the name. Amazing suction on pet hair. If I have to replace that every year, I'll do so gladly because it cleans really well |
This is My Favorite Vacuum!!!

I clean houses for a living. I deal with all sorts of vacuums. I use this one in my home, along with a Hoover Fold Away.
This Dirt Devil has powerful suction, a nice range of tools, a place to put a scented filter in addition to the HEPA.
Also, the red one looks like a race car. The dual canister/dust bin has 2 spinning silver parts. It not only looks cool, but works great.
I prefer is over a Dyson, as many homes I clean have them, this DOES work better.
The cord is more than long enough and is great on stairs.
I only gave 4 instead of 5 because the hose, on occasion, can clog. But that is the only problem.

This vaccum has been great. as many others have said, it works very well for pet hair. My dog sheds constantly and when I vaccum my 2 bedroom condo, I have to empty the canister twice because it picks up so much hair. The hepa filter works great, you just have to remember to remove it if you use any powders like carpet fresh because it will ruin the filter.
I don't know how people can compare this vaccum to the Dyson, the Dyson is twice as expensive, of course it will be better...that's like comparing a Mercedes to a Honda Civic. For the money, this is a GREAT vaccum cleaner. |
