This product is useless!

| Do not waste your money on this lemon! Although I will agree that it has the absolute best suction power I have ever witnessed, the cooling system is horrible! After about 2 months of owning, the vaccuum began to emit an awful odor. It was literally burning up. Thankfully, it shut itself off and cooled off outside on the porch in the dead of winter. I have attempted to use the vaccuum on numerous occasions since, and each time it will eventually give out and die. I can never completely vaccuum my entire 1200 square foot home. I keep the filters clean - have ensured there is nothing blocked in the intake or exhaust - nothing works. I think it just has a poor design. I just attempted to use it to clean my 15X12 living room - it petered out 1/4 of the way through. I've had it! Find a vaccuum worth your money - finance it if you have to - don't trust these cheap wannabee vaccuums. I'll be sending it out to the curb. |
Great when it works, good suction, but 2 melted brushrollers

I do like this sweeper. It has great suction and cleans amazingly well, better than my past two sweepers both Hoovers. It is loud & heavy but still maneuverable so I can live with that.
But I did have a problem. I have had it two (2) years and had to replace the brushroller (beaterbar) twice and just bought my third. The brushroller is made entirely of plastic and has melted twice! The original melted at about 14 months and the first replacement melted at 9 months.
What seems to happen is long hairs (I have two cats and a long haired daughter) get wrapped around the ball bearing assembly on the metal cap ends (separate pieces) on the ends of the brushroller. The hair is so tightly wrapped, it freezes the bearing assembly which then will not turn. The motor is so powerful it forces the plastic brushroller to still turn and in less than 30-40 seconds friction heat gets so hot it melts the end of the plastic brushroller. The hair only seems to get wrapped on the cap on the drive belt end of the brushroller.
The brushroller end is not supported when melted and vibrates so badly the sweeper is useless. There is a burning smell of plastic when this happens. There is no warning this is about to happen and melts the plastic before you can turn it off. The only way to inspect this part is to take 4 screws out, remove the top cover and remove the rollerbrush assembly, and finally the end cap. I don't know if you can remove the tightly wrapped hair or not when it is this tight. It is quite difficult when I tried to do this on a failed part. There could have been melted plastic mixed with the hair when I unsuccessfully tried to remove the hair on a failed bearing assembly. There is no way to fix a melted end of the brushroller so it is supported by the bearing assembly and no way to flip it end for end as the drive belt only attaches on one molded end.
I decided to try my third brushroller buying this 2nd replacement @ $16 from [...]. With shipping at $10 this part is expensive for someone on fixed income. If this fails again, I don't know I'd buy another Eureka if they all share this defective design.
If the brushroller was made of metal like the ball bearing cap assembly, it would survive this problem. If the hair was prevented from entering the vital spinning bearing support shaft it not occur either.
My rating is a 3 because of this apparent poor design for hair wrapping around the ball bearing assembly, and the choice of an entirely plastic brushroller. Otherwise the sweeper works great removing much debris from the carpet. I have not had any other problems some other reviewers reported. |
Good Suction, LOUD noise

| I have to say the only thing actually good about this vacuum is it's suction power. Yes it does do the job on cleaning however you may go deaf. The Vacuum is so loud it hurts your ears. I have 4 cats and 3 birds so I vacuum quite frequently and have to wear ear plugs everytime. Also the filters are a pain to clean, and I have to clean them atleast twice a week. I would not recommend this vacuum. I wish I could go back and read the reviews before I spent $200 on what I thought was a good vacuum. |
I don't understand the negative reveiws

I don't understand all the negative reviews on this vacuum cleaner. I have had mine for about 2 years or so now and have nary a problem. Keep the filters cleaned. Remember there is a little plastic filter thing above the dirt cup that needs to be cleaned. I do realize that sometimes a lemon might slip by QA but c'mon, there can't be that many bad vacuums.
I use this vacuum in three houses and it leaves the carpets clean and looking great. It does a really good job on lifting the nap and getting hair and dust out of the carpet. I also like the ability to turn the brush roll off and that when you put the handle of the vacuum up all the way the brush roll automatically turns off.
The duster thing isn't that great but I love the Power Paw attachment. Like everything this vacuum has it's limitations but for the price you can't beat it. So maybe try using it again and make sure it is cleaned out good after each use before you bag on this product. |
It sucks...

| ...like a vacuum should. Gets up dog hair and dander well. It's heavy but has a long cord so I can do my whole house from one outlet. Cup is large enough. |
