Good Vacuum, but not meant to last.

This is the first bagless vacuum I ever purchased. I bought this vacuum about 5 years ago and it's done a fairly good job during that time. The first thing to break on it was a plastic piece on the side that holds one of the tube extensions, which is not a major problem, but then another plastic part on the bottom of the canister broke. This is the part that opens up and empties out the dirt. I was able to fix this with some patience and gorilla glue. None the less the vacuum continued to work steadily even though it had to be emptied by unscrewing the top and dumping the dirt out the top. Overall this vacuum provided very good suction when the filters were kept clean and the canister was not completely full, just like any other bag less vacuum out there.
This vacuum just recently had a major problem with the roller and the belt inside started cutting away at the plastic housing. I took it to a local vacuum store to see if it was worth repairing and they said it wouldn't be. The service rep informed me that the bagged vacuums tend to last a bit longer and have fewer problems. I think its all preference, and I still prefer the bagless types. I was able to fix this problem enough on my own to make the vacuum work, but it now makes an awful loud noise. Since the motor still works fine I decided to disconnect the belt and use it only with the extension wand. This is pretty much useless now on carpets, but is good for stairs, cars and furniture. I'm considering another bagless Hoover, but maybe one with a better warranty and less plastic pieces.
Pros: Comes with many useful tools and attachments that can be used for a variety of cleaning applications. Price was reasonable for a bagless upright. Has strong motor with good suction as long as filters and dirt canister are maintained.
Cons: Made with way to many breakable plastic parts. Colors are not the greatest, but who really cares. Cord is not very long. Noise is a bit louder than an average bagless vac. The extension handle will not stay in place after a while. This only lasted 5 years with lots of home repairs made along the way.
Final thought: This is a decent vacuum for the cost, but may be worth spending the extra money to get a more durable one.

Not bad for the money

While this machine is certainly no Dyson, they use better materials and higher quality electrics. For the money, this vacuum is one of the better ones, it has plenty of suction and the cyclonic design means most of the debris stays inside the canister. After using it on average two or three times a week for a month, you can hardly tell the filters have anything on them. Downside to that is, more of the dirt gets caked into the "holes" in the cyclonic chamber, making it messy to clean up. This also means you lose suction as you clean.
As others have mentioned, the height adjustment is primitive, it only allows adjustment when the handle is up. Some of the plastic feels a bit thin and brittle, as well.
Overall then, you get what you pay for. At about one-fifth the cost of a Dyson, this vacuum is nowhere near as good, but because it's cheap some of the downsides can be ignored. If you're not a fan of the wild colours, go to Wal-Mart and buy the Mach 3, it's exactly the same, but with better colours. |
Free and not worth it

| Got this from my mother-in-law for free. She found it too heavy to use. She is Mrs. Clean and didn't want the "dirty bag type vacuum". She used it once and found it too heavy and unwieldy. She must hate me more than I thought to give this to me. It clogs almost immediately with pet hair and nasty stuff. Must be totally taken apart to empty with the result that there is more dirt scattered around which then requires additional cleaning. I empty it in the garage or outdoors. The filters require washing after every use. It is top-heavy so using the hand tools requires bracing the machine against something so it doesn'r crash to the floor. On hard surface floors all it does is scatter the dirt. My swiffer works better. The vacuum has a tendency to overheat and shut down. It is way too heavy to manage for anyone who is older and arthritic. Just one worthless piece of junk. I'll never buy another Hoover product; this one was free and not worth what I paid for it, and it's too ugly to make a decent planter for geraniums. Beware. |

| Very very bad design!!! The roller bearings are plastic. After 1 or more months, depends on how lucky you are, the roller will melt down, the vacuum becomes useless. Don't waste your money on it!!! |
suction good, durability bad

| I have owned this vacuum for about 2yrs. I loved it at first, and would have given it 5 stars. A few months in the latch for the dirt cup broke, so I had to rig it with a piece of cardboard. Then the next thing to break was the brush attachment holder. Then the powered hand tool(my favorite feature), stopped spinning. Next to go was the light. Followed by the breaking off of the height adjustment wheels. I vacuum once a week, one room, and that being so, have not abused my vacuum. It may not lose suction, but it doesn't matter too much, when parts are constantly breaking. Emptying it is a bit messy too. I did not want to have to shop for a vacuum after only 2yrs, but I am. |
