Okay, I've read some of the other reviews and yes, I'll admit, emptying the vaccuum is not fun. But I haven't had any of these other problems. Mine has lasted a little over a year and a half which may not seem like a long time. However, I'm a bit nutty about my carpet, I have two kids (and a dog and two cats) and like it to be clean. I have used this vaccuum almost every single day that I have owned it. It picks up everything! Yesterday it started making really weird noises and it sounds like there is something wrong with the motor, but with as much use as I've gotten out of it, I'm amazed.

I've had a lot of vacuum cleaners in my time, and this is by far the very best I have ever owned! It's very heavy, though, but I still love it and would never buy anything else. I have 4 dogs and it picks the hair up beautifully from my carpets. That's saying a lot, believe me! This is the vacuum YOU need for your home, too!
Hoover is the best!

This item has all the features I want. I've always had trust in Hoover. This is my third Hoover vacuum. Worth every penny!
No Suction - Horrible Product

Vacuum works great as a hand held tool. But the second you want to use it as a hand-held it loses suction. There are no obstructions, everything is clear, it's a mystery. Everything said about the messy filters is true. Please please please, do not buy this piece of junk. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HOOVER!

I owned this vacuum for 1 year before finally putting it in the garbage and buying a Dyson. The belts are constantly breaking or falling off. The on-off switch wouldn't work and I had to resort to unplugging it to stop operation. It would pull on rugs causing the brushes to stop turning and sometimes causing it to start smoking. the dirt container would need to be cleaned after only one fourth filled and the filters were always coated with dirt. The replacements are costly and weren't easy to clean.
