Product Description |
| This high-tech upright vacuum is, very simply, for the housecleaner who needs everything. Self-propelled going forward and backward and employing Hoover's most advanced suction technology, the 1440-watt vacuum has every feature imaginable: a sealed, hygienic cup to capture dirt; a powered hand tool for stairs, upholstery, and automobiles; a dirt sensor with two sensitivity settings that displays a red light when large or embedded dirt particles require additional cleaning strokes; a headlight to illuminate the 15-inch cleaning path; a dual-brush agitator with multiple height settings for thorough carpet cleaning (it shuts off with a toe control for bare floors); edge groomers to remove dirt near baseboards and furniture; three filters--a prefilter, an antiallergen HEPA cartridge-filter, and a washable final filter--to ensure clean air returns to the room; and a no-touch system that automatically cleans the prefilter and HEPA filter when the dirt cup is emptied. Accompanying the vacuum are an upholstery nozzle and dusting brush that store in a handy front compartment along with the powered hand tool. A crevice tool stores inside one of the two extension wands that attach to the extra-long stretch hose. (An additional stretch hose that attaches to the first hose can be purchased separately.) The vacuum comes with a 31-foot power cord, assembles in three easy steps with four Phillips-head screws (included), and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack |

| At first, I really liked this vacuum. Then, after the first few months, it's started breaking constantly. Over the past three years, we've had it in the shop at least five times. Each time for something different. |
Good vacuum for the money

| Selp-propelled feature is nice - and it works very well if you keep the filter clean and the roller brush clean. Only disappointment is the effectiveness on bare floors - doesn't suck hard enough to pick up big crumbs, and if you leave the roller brush on - it tends to shoot them out from under the vacuum. Overall, a good deal for the cost. |
Working very well

My old vacuum was broken, hence I started to shop for a new one. I went to Walmart and after looking at all of the vacuums they had there, I decided to buy the hoover self propelled windtunnel (it was the third most expensive one among them). I was amazed how much dust and dirt it picked up (way much more than my old vacuum). I have a kid and he is crawling around on the carpet all the time, therefore it is very import for me to have a good working vacuum. I am very satisfied with this vacuum. Things you should do:
1) Empty the container after each vacuum (it is better you take it outside and dump the dirt into a plastic bag or trash can to avoid the dust flying around your house)
2) Remove the hairs on the brush(es) that jammed on it after each use.
The reason why I only give it a 4 stars instead of 5:
1) I just bought it and I need to use it for a while to make sure everything is working properly, before it give it the full five stars.
2) The dirt sensor is useless, the green light is on even if the carpet is very dirty. I basically ignore it. |
Bagless blows (literally)

I had a Hoover Wind Tunnel self-propelled vacuum that used bags. I was tired of changing the bag after only a couple uses. I decided I would try the bag-less variety.
What a mistake! Turns out that the new carpet in my new home just gave up way too much material for the first two years.
Cleaning this thing is a royal pain. Don't even think about doing it in the house unless you want a gigantic dust cloud floating around. Even when I took it out to the garage (not so much fun in the Northern Illinois winters) I wound up getting dust all over the tools I kept out there.
The "mechanism" that they provide for spinning out the dust from one of the filters is practically useless. The only way to get most of the the dirt out of this thing is to bang the heck out of it against the garbage can. Hence, the dust cloud and usually a sneezing fit.
I'm back to the bag unit and gladly change the bag on a regular basis. I just don't get the micro filter bags. |

| I was amazed!!! Before I bought the Hoover Bagless Windtunnel, I use to use a Filter Queen that I purchased 10 years ago. I vacuumed the carpet with the Filter Queen right before I got the Hoover. Then I vacuumed the same carpet with the Hoover within an hour after using the Filter Queen. The Hoover Windtunnel picked up A TON more dirt after using the Filter Queen. I was shocked!! The green light (that detects dirt being sucked through) on the Hoover practically stayed on. I bought the Hoover based on reviews from a leading consumer ratings website. They were right on the mark!! |
